In honor of Women's History Month, this recital explores the works of American women, including pieces by both living and African American composers, who are too often overshadowed in conventional classical programming. Representing the works of women poets and composers, the English art songs presented in this program give just a taste of the impact women have had in music and the world. From the poetry of Emily Dickinson to the works of Lori Laitman, Teresa and Allison explore over 100 years of love, reflection, and dreaming. This program was produced in coordination with the Atlas Arts On Air series in the Lang Theatre of the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington DC.
