In the next installment of our subscriber-exclusive recital series, soprano Melissa Wimbish defies genres with a self-directed and -produced program celebrating women composers and creatives as well the incredible ingenuity of artists during the pandemic. From a remote collaboration with composer and violist Jessica Meyer, to videos of her pop duo Outcalls with Britt Olsen-Ecker, and songs by Nina Simone, Gina Maria Hidalgo, and even Mozart, Melissa’s program explores “difficult things, unpopular things, stuff that tests you,” in an audio and visual collage spotlighting her luminous voice, irresistible visual aesthetic, and incisive observation.
